Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Some features on novs.be also use your browser's local storage, a similar technology. This policy explains how NOVS uses these technologies on novs.be in compliance with EU Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy Directive) as implemented in Belgian law, and the GDPR.
2. What we actually use
Unlike a lot of sites, we keep this list short because it's exhaustive — this is, without exception, everything novs.be places on your device.
Strictly necessary cookies (always active)
These authentication cookies are essential for the site to function (staying signed in to your account) and don't require consent under ePrivacy rules. They can't be turned off from our banner.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| accessToken | Keeps you signed in to your account (access token), httpOnly | 15 minutes |
| refreshToken | Refreshes your session without logging in again, httpOnly | 7 days |
Analytics cookies (consent required)
We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand how visitors use our site and to catch technical problems. These tools are designed to be "cookieless" (no persistent identifier, no cross-site profiling); out of caution, we still only load them after you accept via the cookie banner.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel Analytics / Speed Insights | Aggregated page-view and performance analytics, no persistent identifier | N/A — cookieless |
Marketing / advertising cookies
We don't currently use any third-party advertising or tracking cookies (e.g. Facebook Pixel or Google Analytics). If that changes, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.
Local storage (not cookies, but a similar technology)
We also use your browser's local storage for purely functional purposes: remembering your shopping cart contents, wishlist, recently viewed items, your choice on this banner, and whether you've already seen certain pop-ups. This data stays on your device, is never passed to third parties for advertising purposes, and is automatically deleted if you clear your browser data.
3. How to manage cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from staying signed in to your account.
4. Consent
When you first visit novs.be, we ask for your agreement before loading analytics cookies. Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights only load if you click "Accept"; if you click "Decline" or make no choice, they never load. You can change your mind at any time by clearing novs.be's site data in your browser, which will show the banner again.
5. More information
For details on how we process your personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
